Catching up

Went out to the university a few days ago...I love the paperbarks around the lake...this looks just like a painting, I thought!
and up to Mt Cootha...had to take the little car up there for a drive after getting a flat battery fixed...
(the photo of the camellia above was taken at the physio)
Happened to notice that there was a Botanical Art show, above, at the Mt Cootha Botanical Gardens....some of the artists are very talented..(but I wasn't allowed to take close up photos, which is understandable).

...and I love this man who sits outside the planetarium.
Today I went out to Brookfield to have a look at the Quilt Show...
Is that building leaning do you think, or is it my terrible photo taking? I shall have to go back and check one day!
My friend Mollie from church made a quilt, and that is it hanging on the wall right up the back there in the next photo below...can you see it? I happened to think, it was one of the best in the show! They are all presented with a quilt block pattern at the beginning of the year, and encouraged to make a quilt from it ....and so depending on their colors and placement of the blocks beside each other, will make totally different looking quilts! Very interesting.
and popped outside to enjoy the Stitched Up jazz group play and sing. Good fun!
Hope you have had a great week also.

Funny story.... I am currently listening t a most beautiful piece of sacred choral (Requiem by Schumann) music on the radio program hosted by Margaret Throsby, while I update this post....she is interviewing a cellist who plays, amongst others, a Stradivarius cello from way back...was it in the 1700's I think it was made. He said that he traveled out here first class...but the cello (which never goes in the hold) had to travel in economy, accompanied by a friend whose ticket he paid for. Unfortunately, he said, the cello drank too much and had a hangover...what a funny man!! I am off to another blood test soon, and trying to drink plenty of water before I go. Hopefully it will go better than the tests last week. (ps ..it did)!

Oh, and in case you were wondering, my warfarin dose seems to be pretty well stabilised (I think), after a few blood tests during the week. If only they didn't have to have a couple of tries to find a vein each time. I am feeling like a pincushion. I will be pleased when the blood tests thin out a bit, although I will be on the warfarin for about 3 months I think.
