in which the flowers bloomed away...hibiscus,

my Norfolk Island Hibiscus (
Lagunaria patersonius)

which I had identified at the herbarium during the week...

a quick trip to Mt Ommaney for medicare and other purposes...in which I marvel at the renovations that have been done, and wonder where have I been all this time? This picture was taken down at the Big W end.

and my tree out the front near the driveway is flowering away, also had it identified as a Brush Box (
Lophostemon confertus)

It has been so dry dry dry, and it is amazing how open all the vegetation has become...

but finally the heavens opened for us, after four months of NO rain....we had a lovely 42 mm. Thank you God!

the scrub turkey scratches on regardless .....

after tennis on Tuesday I went to look at the jacarandas up the road on the way home...just lovely...

while I was there taking photos, I happened to see the most lovely wattle...so fine and pretty and delicate, the leaves, but gosh, was it ever hard to photograph, especially against the typical Australian grey bush background...

I looked around, and found this dear duck nearby!

and another photo opportunity..I had to turn around and go back again to stop on the side of the road in a driveway to get this one...the flame trees are just stunning...haven't seen too many of them though , but then again I haven't been out and about all that much!

and on Tuesday night I was lucky to be able to go to good friends Peter and Vi from our church, to see the moon and Jupiter through Peter's very good telescopes! A much better view than what I got here with the camera. We were even able to see 4 of Jupiter's moons all lined up in there as well! Peter had one telescope focused on the moon and another on Jupiter. We were lucky to get a view that night, so soon after the rain, and as their previous night had been washed out!

Mum's
dancing lady orchids are flowering at last...and I even noticed that a couple of mine are also flowering up in the fiddlewood where I had put them. I think this is the first I have seen them flowering at my place!

Not sure why I am leaving you with this second rate photo, apart from the fact that it is one I took (of the bark) for the herbarium to identify (by email) ..and to remind us that every tree has its day...and I think this one has finished flowering now...very sad. It always makes me so happy to look out at the back kitchen window and see this flower in its prime. Oh well, I can enjoy the azalea out the front that looks like it is now going to have a second go...how lovely!
