A quick update

Liam was very pleased to read some new books during the week. He especially LOVES books about trucks and machines...
there were also some much needed new clothes for him to wear....he is growing out of his 18 months old clothes already!
One day when we were on our walk down the park, this red truck came past...carrying rubbish from the playground they are renovating....and a train in the distance over the little Harlem river...what more could a little boy wish for?
did you see the truck and the train MaMa?
and here is where the new playground will be!
Grandma had a quick trip down to the Cloisters ...to buy some postcards...I wonder when she will ever write on them and post them...it will be almost time to go home...
the books I have read while here....
Liam was trying my hat (beanie that Cari knitted) one day....it has been a very good hat for MaMa...hasn't it Liam?
another day out in the park...and the tree (below) in the playground that is doomed for removal...dear old thing!
The temperatures have been hovering just above and below zero this week...much more pleasant. So much for my thinking that the temperatures are probably supposedly pretty normal for now. A friend of theirs came for dinner the other night, and being a native New Yorker I asked him what he thought, and unfortunately he thinks it is unseasonably warm...argh...!!
where's Liam hiding?
Here I am Grandma!
Today, Jo and Liam and I went down to church....having walked down to catch the 1 train to save time, we then discovered we had to get off at 96th st instead of 86th st, and walk the ten blocks... as it was running express! Grandma also had to stop at the pharmacy and buy some more ibuprofen for her sore knee/hip (sciatica)...ouch. They really do help.
Apparently they are doing up the 96th st station...hooray...it happens to be one of the ugliest around...can't wait for them to get to 168th st station also (where Jo works). For the very busy stations that they are they are terribly ugly and run down!!
'looking up at a building on Broadway after church...Grandma's batteries in her camera were dying, hence the lack of interesting photos...but here is one of Liam at the restaurant....where we stopped for lunch...yummy Italian pizzeria...tho we didn't have pizza, much to Liam's disappointment!
nice place hey Grandma?

the much better decor at the 86th st station on our way home...yes, that is right, we didn't have to walk the ten blocks back on our way home, as Jo says they never close both sides of the station at once...how very nice and civil and convenient!
This station has heaps of these lovely mosaics along all the walls....done by the local schools...how lovely!

Bye for now...have just put Liam to sleep, Sunday night here....wow...we have been taking it in turns...!! Took only two turns of the little cd of Christmas songs that I gave him! Jo is getting excited that other people (Andrew and I) can now put him to bed at night...she thinks she can see she and A going away for a weekend...(to wean him)!! Haha!

A very rainy day has been predicted for tomorrow...Jo's day off....it will be washing day (at the basement laundry) . Thank goodness for the dryers eh? The apartment is usually so warm that anything will dry fairly quickly anyway! That is if there is room...!!!
